Engineering Consultancy - Skills

  • Selection & design of HV switchboards, HV transformers, HV SVGs, HV shunt reactors, as per AS 2067, 62271

  • Secondary systems design (CT/VT calcs, protection, tariff metering to state requirements)

  • LV switchboard design to AS3000, AS3008, AS61439 (SLD & schematics for MCCs, control panels, fire panels) in AutoCad

  • LV cable schedule, calculations & equipment selection (UPS, DC-DC converters, MCCBs, battery sizing)

  • Protection studies (time current curves/relay & fuse coordination, SKM load flow, fault levels, relay settings, distributor compliance)

  • Interconnection design (incorporating service & install rules, HV Metering, distributor standards, Chapter 5 of NER, GPS generator performance standards, Voltage Control Strategy, R1 & R2 testing & reporting). Firsthand experience in alternator droop setting adjustment, power factor mode, calculate short circuit ratio and development of the math block diagram for EMT Electro-Magnetic Transient power system modelling.

  • Power quality design and emissions analysis as per AS61000.3.6 (assess unbalance, THD, harmonic & flicker compliance)

  • Hazardous area design to AS60079.10 (entity calcs, zone diagram, IECEx, inspection schedules) Ex’i, Ex’d, Ex’e, Ex’o, Ex’n

  • Earthing & lightning design (Wenner soil resistivity tests, IEEE 80 calculations, ENA EG-1 touch/step voltage assessment, Argon) to AS2067

  • Instrumentation design (4-20mA source & sink analog repeaters, HART, RTDs, pressure, flow and radar level transmitters, etc) including developing P&IDs and facilitator for HAZOP or CHAZOP

  • Generator design (Woodward Easygen, DVR, speed controller, air/fuel mixture map for gas engines) as per AS3010. Standby, baseload, islanding and paralleling generation design

  • Communication design (Modbus RTU, TCP, Mirror-bits, DNP 3.0, serial RS-232, RS-485)

  • Commissioning (Shutdown planning and implementation, gantt charts, quality assurance, FAT/SAT on-site testing) with a strong focus on commissioning safety plans
